Twitter Background Image
Posted by Sebastien | Filed under Internet, Tech

The other day I was looking for a new background image for my Twitter page so I did what any normal person would do, I googled it… I thought I was going to be overwhelmed by the amount of websites offering such a service; I mean, how many of these are there to pimp your myspace page? But I was wrong, there is no good site out there that offers good and original Twitter wallpapers.
That’s why I decided to post about this so if like me, you’re looking for a theme for your Twitter page, you may want to check out some of the following sites.
This is my personal favorite. Paul Anthony offers us what he calls “26 awesome backgrounds for twitter fanboys (and girls)”. I really like this site because it gives original templates with the matching color codes so you can also customize your designs colors.
French entrepreneur Fabrice Epelboin says that like me, he was looking to personalize his profile page on Twitter but he couldn’t find a good website. Unlike me though, he has design skills so he was able to make his own. He has 2 PSD files to download. They are really worth the look.
This website offers 5 PSD files of Twitter backgrounds that you can download and tweak to make your own using an image editor. I’m no designer so I couldn’t use this but you might be able to do something out of it. If you’re a designer, you can also submit your Twitter designs to the site.
This blog post tells you how to create an original Twitter background template using PowerPoint. From the author: “Who would’ve thought that the presentation app used to lull audiences to sleep could also be used to create an appealing Twitter background? The process is fairly simple and only limited by your imagination and Twitter’s 800Kb upload limit.”
A few PSD files to download and tweak. Not really interesting.
This designer actually offers her free services to design Twitter background images for you. She also have a few original wallpapers to download. Definitely worth a look.
Three Twitter wallpapers with the Twitter bird on them to download.
If you’re a designer you may want to visit CronCast to get the Twitter background guidelines. From file dimensions to color palettes, he tells you eveything you have to know on the specifics of creating your own Twitter wallpaper image.
Any other sources that you know? Please share them in the comments. Oh by the way, follow me on Twitter ;-)

November 3rd, 2008 at 9:49 amThere are so many gaps in the market for things like this. Hopefully we´ll all stumble upon them accidentally, the way you did.. then do something about it.. then become millionaires.. ah that would be nice. In the meantime, nice backgrounds are always a must.. I currently have a picture of a cat, how exciting!!! Monika

November 3rd, 2008 at 8:14 pmHello Monika,
How are you? Hope great! Actually that’s true Monika, I think even if lately one article in Newsweek points out to a problem in Twitter that it has so many competitions that shares the same concept as the site, and also Twitter needs to work more on monetizing its investments. I still think, Twitter is the Next big thing because it has a very simple format that suited for the fast paced urban lifestyle! So I think, Twitter is here to stay. And that is true, backgrounds started as a niche market but with all the myspace/facebook background providers, the need was recognized. In Twitter’s case, I think there will be more background providers that will come up. I did notice that there’s a twitter background site that charges up to $500 for a personalized twitter background, I think this shows that truly there is a need for more twitter backgrounds as this site will not be charging that fee if there’s not market…but competition in all fields is always good! The winner will always be the end user…

November 10th, 2008 at 6:42 amI noticed that too, Twitter image backgrounds are not as many as those for MySpace backgrounds, well maybe because Twitter is relatively new. But I think now that this is being discussed here, we can expect for more Twitter image background designs soon.

November 10th, 2008 at 8:35 amThat is true Ferienhaus, I think pretty soon there will be more sites that will offer background images for Twitter, as compared to Myspace, you don’t need to code it, its really very simple to become a twitter layout site, I think in the end that will be great for all Twitter users as they will have more choices and that is really wonderful to have choices :) like what I said in other post before, the fact that one Twitter background site is offering a customized Twitter background for almost $500 really showed that there’s a market for Twitter Background. And people would pay to have their own customized Twitter background. In the case of Free Tweets, all the backgrounds are free, this is our service site for all our readers who supported our Modeling, Fashion and Design sites…and for everyone who just like to have a new background every day :)

November 12th, 2008 at 8:23 amNo good sites out there offering original backgrounds? I guess you missed this one http://www.twitterimage.com and this one http://www.tweetstyle.com.

November 12th, 2008 at 9:02 pmNice one Hugh…but those sites are charging expensive fees…not a fan of those sites. Why pay when there are sites that are offering Free Twitter backgrounds…just my opinion…or I can easily create one by uploading my own photos…its insane that they charge 100 or even 50 dollars for a customized one, I can make anyone for free….no charge lol
-
Nate Says:
November 12th, 2008 at 9:14 pmYup agree with Rich! If there’s free myspace background why pay for a Twitter background? I would rather take my own pics and save my dollars. If I will pay for a background on Twitter then I must be insane..no offense to those sites that are charging I respect their creativity but I dont think their design is as good as the free ones, maybe if they put the fees to one dollar per design, maybe i will try to buy it but when i check the fee at tweetstyle and twitterimage, i would rather shop at walmart for those prices at least at walmart i will find great prices
